Alan Uzelac redoviti je profesor na Katedri za građansko pravo. Od 1. studenog 1994. godine radi na Pravnom fakultetu u Zagrebu. Sudjelovao je kao istraživač i/ili voditelj u više znanstvenih i stručnih projekata u Hrvatskoj i drugim zemljama. Predavao je kao gostujući predavač na više sveučilišnih ustanova u Hrvatskoj, Europi i Sjedinjenim Državama te na više desetaka skupova u zemlji i inozemstvu. Od 1992. do 2002. godine bio je tajnik Stalnog izbranog sudišta pri Hrvatskoj gospodarskoj komori, gdje je bio jedan od utemeljitelja i urednika časopisa Croatian Arbitration Yearbook i međunarodnog skupa Hrvatski arbitražni dani. Arbitar je na listi više inozemnih arbitražnih institucija. Od 1993. sudjeluje u radu UNCITRAL-ove skupine za arbitražu i mirenje (od 2000. kao predstavnik RH), a član je i nacionalnog Povjerenstva za praćenje rada UNCITRAL-a. Jedan je od članova osnivača Europske komisije za učinkovitost pravosuđa (CEPEJ) pri Vijeću Europe, a u toj je komisiji obnašao i više funkcija (član predsjedništva, predsjednik radne skupine za trajanje sudskih postupaka).
