Marko Bratković was born in Čakovec in 1986. In July 2010, he graduated in Croatian and Latin Language and Literature from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and in May 2011 from the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb. During his studies, he was repeatedly awarded Dean’s awards, Awards for Excellence in the Study and a Rector’s Award. Since 2012 he has been working at the Department of Civil Procedure of the Faculty of Law. He has been professionally trained during his studies at the University of Maastricht; Europe-Institute in Saarbrücken; Max-Planck-Institute in Hamburg, Max-Planck-Institute in Luxembourg and Complutense University in Madrid. In December 2014, he passed the bar exam, and since 2017 he has been a member of the Scientific Council of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts for State Administration, Justice and the Rule of Law. He is also a member of the International Association of Procedural Law (IAPL). He defended his doctoral thesis Second Appeal by Permission in 2018 summa cum laude, and he was appointed assistant professor in 2019. In 2022, he was awarded the Marko Petrak Award for the best research paper by a young researcher of the Faculty of Law.
