Professor Irena Majstorović was born in 1973 in Zagreb. After graduating from the Classical Gymnasium, she stated her studies at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, where she graduated in 1997 and enrolled in the Postgraduate study of Civil Law Sciences She has been employed at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb since 2001. In 2005, she obtained her master’s degree with the thesis ‘Marriage Contract’, and in 2009 she obtained her PhD by defending the dissertation entitled ‘Harmonization and Unification of European Family Law – Foundations, Principles and Controversies’.

Since 2011, she has been the coordinator of the Faculty of Law in Zagreb for students with disabilities.

She has completed the educational program ‘Active Learning and Critical Thinking in Higher Education Teaching’ organized by the Forum for Freedom of Education, and earned the title of RWCT (Reading and writing for critical thinking) teacher. She has an excellent command of spoken and written English, and also speaks German and Italian very well.
