Description
The purpose of study of legal history. Constitutional and legal development in the Croatian environment from the Middle Ages to the contemporary times; typology of states and institutions. Formation and development of the Croatian state in the Middle Ages; government and law (particularly civil and penal law) at the Croatian area in the Middle Ages. Reforms of government in the Early Modern Period. Building up of the modern government and Croatian legal system from 1848 to 1918; Croatian-Hungarian Compromise and modernisation of legal system in the period of the ban Ivan Mažuranić. Military Frontier: formation, institutions and its reintegration in Croatia. Government and law in Istria, Rijeka and Dalmatia; fragments of development of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Deconstruction of Austria-Hungary and formation of the Yugoslav state and its constitutional and legal development from 1918 to 1941. Croatia in the Second World War: Independent State of Croatia; formation of federal Yugoslavia. Basic determinants of development of government and law in Yugoslavia and Croatia from 1945 to 1991. Dissolution of Yugoslavia and formation of the Republic of Croatia 1991, particularly government and constitution. Development of the contemporary Croatian legal system and accession to the European Union.
