Description:

Students can get acquainted with the approaches of spirituality and religiosity in social work through the course and with the development of some methods and their application in social work with different groups of users: children, young people, families, people with disabilities, the elderly. Also on the course students will acquire practical knowledge and skills on the ability to use certain techniques in working with different groups of users, on adopting elements when and with whom and in what way it is desirable to use a particular method or technique and goals that can be achieved. The course enables students to become acquainted with and awareness of their own personality processes and the process of personal content and work on subjects of wider social significance and essential for the profession of social work. The basic purpose of the course is to acquire knowledge, skills of creative expression and critical thinking, and to raise awareness of the need for work on yourself, and the application of methods and techniques of spirituality to work with different groups of users. Possibilities of personal active action in the direction of solving certain social problems by applying certain methods of spirituality (Bibliodrama, Hagiotherapy, Sociodrama, Psihodrama, Meditation)

Cognitive Skills:

Knowledge and understanding

After successfully mastering the course, students will be able to:

- define basic concepts of spirituality and religosity in the context of social work

- critically evaluate and recognise the role of spirituality in social work practice;

- explain theoretical approaches to spirituality;

- explain the role of religiosity and its importance in social work practice;

- identify common values in main religions of the world and their importance for social work;

- explain methods in spirituality such as bibliodrama, hagiotherapy, meditation and empathy in the empowerment of the user

- critically evaluate and recognise methods in spirituality as a means of self-learning and a source of protection from professional stress and burnout

 

Application

After successfully mastering the course, students will be able to:

- describe the role of spirituality in social work;

- understand the role of religion and its importance for the creation of the world ethos;

apply knowledge about methods of self-learning and interactive skills used in bibliodrama, meditation, contemplation and group skills in the work with users;

- select certain methods and techniques and apply them with different groups of users;

- conduct various activities in group work with users.

 

Analysis

After successfully mastering the course, students will be able to:

- analyse similarities and differences in the religions of the world that contribute to multiculturality in society;

- compare the role of spirituality and religion in different social contexts and areas of social work;

- analyse values of faith, hope and love in the context of the helping profession of social work;

- demonstrate different techniques and methods of groupwork;

- categorise effects of spirituality in the context of social work profession in the work with clients, but also in lifelong professional development;

- check methods and techniques through user support in various areas of social work.

Synthesis

After successfully mastering the course, students will be able to:

- construct connection between spirituality and religiosity in casework and groupwork;

- propose application of individual methods from spirituality to empower users and prevent professional stress;

- formulate the importance of the values of faith, hope and love in social work profession;

- lead support groups applying learned methods and techniques in spirituality methods;

- organise support to individuals, families and community using elements of spirituality in work;

- form a plan of using methods and techniques of bibliodrama in the analysis of the needs of users;

- create support programs for social workers to prevent professional stress and burnout.

Evaluation

After successfully mastering the course, students will be able to:

- compare advantages and disadvantages of individual methods and techniques in work;

- evaluate the role of religion and spirituality in society, particularly in the work with users of services;

- recommend certain spiritual methods for individual areas of social work;

- assess advantages and disadvantages of individual methods and techniques in the empowerment of users in various areas of social work.

 

Application

After successfully mastering the course, students will be able to:

After having successfully mastered the course, the student will be able to:

Matching Assessments to Learning Outcomes:

Learning outcomes are tested through various forms of teaching - lectures, field practice and workshops in several ways:

- written proposal of preventive program/project in social work,

- oral examination

-workshop with small groups and participation in group discussions.
