The Course "European Transport Law" is an elective course offered in first semester of the fifth year (IX semester) which examines overall legal regulation of the transport in EU (acquis communautaire) trough all five transport branches, including a general introduction into provisions on trade relations in the Founding agreement(s), in relation to other provisions of the contract and operation principles of European law in the area of Transport law |

Cognitive Skills:
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING After successfully mastering the course, students will be able to: - define basic branches and institutes of European transport law; - explain the position of European transport law in the sysetm of legal and economic sciences; - critically evaluate and recognise new market trends in international transport of goods and characteristics of multimodal transport; - identify trends of the European transport law development; - select basic categories and fundamental principles of European transport law: transport law, law of road, railway and air transport - explain the ratio for passing relevant legal norms as a manner of defining relations between contractual parties, and towards third persons; - explain protection of the rights of passengers in national and international transport by sea, road, railway and air; - explain the role of maritime insurance in uninterrupted conduct of international trade; - explain the significance of maritime law for the protection of marine nevironment; - discuss the activity of European institutions in the regulation of European transport law and European traffic policy. Practical and Generic Skills:After successfully mastering the course, students will be able to: - publicly present acquired learning outcomes; - express themselves in a well structured text argumenting their standpoints; - demonstrate gained communication skills; - demonstrate ability of independent professional work; - demonstrate abiliity of critical evaluation of key issues of maritime and general transport law; - demonstrate ability of making argumented decisions and acting adequately and timely in practice. 1. Oral examination Oral examination in general respresents more than exact reproduction of learned facts. Students are expected to understand the subject matter well and to connect the facts. At the same time, students are expected to explain their answers coherently and to argument their legal standpoints adequately.
2. Written paper Seminar paper of a recommended scope of 15 pages in writing is a result of reproduction and organisation of facts from the relevant literature. Students are expected to understand and connect the facts, and to express themselves critically on selected topics.
