Main goal of the course is to introduce students with concepts, theoretical underpinnings, and arguments surrounding LGBT* individuals using legal, sociological, and political science toolboxes. Further on, students will focus on acquiring methods for the analysis of legal and political forces shaping the current debate on LGBT* rights, including through critical reading of public policies, strategies, declarations, court judgements, and electoral programmes, on national, European, and global level. The course will juxtapose legal/judicial and political/legislative processes linked to expanding or shrinking of LGBT* rights, but will also point to their historical complementarity and interplay in order to show the inextricable link between politics and law within societies. After finishing this course students will possess a set of skills and know-how that will be of use for them both in the public and private sector, especially if they decide to work within the context of LGBT policies and rights, through the civil sector organisations, policy watchdogs, or independent agencies
