French for Lawyers V is a course designed to broaden the knowledge in the area of French for special purposes in the study of law. First, basic vocabulary will be reviewed/introduced as the course will deal with the different branches of law and related situations. The second part of the course focuses on French political life, by studying the functioning of the political institutions, and some law-related recurring and hot topics in the current French political debate. The last unit focuses on the French judicial system; students will get an outlook of the different bodies of the French judicial system and the conduction of a trial before working on specific judicial cases and judgements.

In this course students will develop the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) with a native French teacher, mainly through discussions, presentations, role plays, and by studying mostly authentic documents and both fictional and real cases.
