Vacancy Pre-Announcement

In September/October 2026, the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Law expects to announce a call for applications for a full-time position at the rank of Assistant in the Department of Legal Theory (https://www.pravo.unizg.hr/en/departments/department-of-theory-of-law/employees/). The announcement will be published through Euraxess. The position is primarily intended for early-career researchers who are applying for admission to, or are already enrolled in, a PhD programme in legal theory.

 

Job description

  • Your primary responsibility is to develop and complete a doctoral dissertation in legal theory, preferably in analytical legal theory.
  • You assist with the preparation of e-courses.
  • You participate in organizing events (guest lectures, conferences).
  • You assist faculty members in conducting seminar classes.
  • You assist faculty members in conducting exams.
  • You assist with the administrative management of scientific research projects.
  • You participate in joint scientific research with other members of the Department.

 

Your profile

  • You hold a completed graduate-level law degree (equivalent to a Master of Laws degree),[1] obtained through a programme of at least 300 ECTS credits[2] or an equivalent qualification under another higher education system, with above-average academic results.[3]
  • You can demonstrate a strong interest in analytical legal theory.
  • You are able to work effectively as part of a research team.
  • You are proficient in English, both spoken and written.
  • You are willing to learn the Croatian language (for candidates who do not speak Croatian).

 

Our offer

  • An appointment for six years, with the possibility of renewal for a further four years.
  • A full-time position (40 hours per week).
  • A net monthly salary of approximately EUR 1,600.00 (subject to change in accordance with the applicable regulatory framework).
  • Paid health and pension insurance contributions.
  • Five weeks of paid vacation per year.
  • Annual funding of EUR 1,300.00 to cover conference attendance expenses.
  • Start date: in principle, 15 January 2027.
