On 11 February 2025, the Rector of the University of Zagreb, Professor Stjepan Lakušić, adopted a decision calling elections for the Student Council of the University of Zagreb and initiating the procedure for the deans of constituent units to call elections for the student councils of their respective units. At the same time, the Rector adopted decisions appointing the University of Zagreb bodies responsible for conducting student elections, namely the Electoral Committee and the Committee for Complaints.

Pursuant to the decision calling the elections, on 24 February 2025 the Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Zagreb, Professor Ivan Koprić, adopted a Decision on the Conduct of Elections for the Student Council of the Faculty of Law of the University of Zagreb. Concurrently, the Dean adopted decisions appointing the Faculty of Law bodies responsible for conducting student elections: the Electoral Committee and the Committee for Complaints.

The elections will be held on Wednesday, 26 March, and Thursday, 27 March 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Trg Republike Hrvatske 3, Zagreb, in the seminar reading room (ground floor).

All students of the Faculty of Law of the University of Zagreb whose names are entered in the electoral roll have the right to vote. Elections for the Student Council of the Faculty of Law of the University of Zagreb will be conducted in four electoral units:

1. Students of the Law degree programme – 17 representatives and 17 deputy representatives;
2. Students of the Social Work degree programme – 4 representatives and 4 deputy representatives;
3. Students of professional study programmes – 4 representatives and 4 deputy representatives;
4. Students of postgraduate study programmes – 2 representatives and 2 deputy representatives.

Candidatures must be submitted no later than 16 March 2025 to the Registry Office of the Faculty of Law of the University of Zagreb on working days between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., or electronically in PDF format to the following email address: tajništvo@pravo.hr.

Every student of the Faculty of Law of the University of Zagreb may stand as a candidate for election to the Student Council. The only restriction is set out in Article 14(3) of the Act on the Student Council and Other Student Organisations. The election procedure is governed by the Regulation on Elections for the Student Council of the University of Zagreb and the Student Councils of its Constituent Units.

Student representatives make up a total of 10% of the Faculty Council membership. Of the total number of student representatives, 85% are representatives of students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, and integrated study programs, while 15% are representatives of students enrolled in postgraduate programs. The number and structure of student representatives for each academic year are determined by the Faculty Council upon the dean’s proposal and upon the prior opinion of the Student Union.
