If you are a student of the University of Zagreb and want to help a colleague who is a student with disabilities, you can enrol in the University elective course Peer Support for Students with Disabilities, held by Professor Lelia Kiš-Glavaš, full professor at the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences.
The course is available for admission to all students enrolled in any constituent unit of the University of Zagreb at the undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate level of study. A condition for enrolment in the course is to know a student with a disability who is in need of peer support and who agrees that the student enrolling in the course will be a student assistant (“peer”). It is also desirable that the “peer” attends the same study programme and is enrolled in the same study year (and the same level of study with regard to the registered semester/year). For the purpose of enrolling in this course, a group of students with disabilities are defined as students with visual impairments (blind or visually impaired), students with hearing impairments (deaf, hard of hearing and deaf-blind) and students with physical disabilities (motor disorders and chronic diseases).
The course is held in two parts: the first part relates to the preparatory workshop and the second to the provision of peer support and regular group consultations (supervision).
The preparatory workshop (15L+ 30P) is held over two weekends (Friday afternoon, Saturday, Sunday), while peer support (75P) and group supervision (15P) take place during the semester. The course is also available via e-learning.
