Professor Zdravka Leutar is a tenured professor employed at the Social Work Study Centre of the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb. She was born and finished primary school in Tomislavgrad, Bosnia and Herzegovina. She graduated from secondary school in Zagreb in 1985. In 1994, she completed her studies in social work at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, and in 1998, she graduated in sociology from the Institute of Sociology at the Faculty of Social and Economic sciences at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz. She defended her doctoral dissertation in family sociology in 2000 at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz under the mentorship of Professor Max Haller. It was entitled: “Familiäre Wertorientierungen in Kroatien Vergleich zu Österreich und Polen”.  She has been employed at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb since 1995, first as a collaborator on the project Social Work and Social Policy in the Republic of Croatia, and then as a researcher on the project of the same name. From the very beginning of her employment at the Faculty of Law, she has independently taught seminars, exercises and practical classes within the following courses: Social Work with Families, Counseling, Family Therapy. In 2001, she started teaching the course Social Work with People with Disabilities, for which she created lectures, seminars, exercises and field work. She was promoted to the scientific rank of assistant professor in 2002, associate professor in 2008, full professor in 2013, and a tenured professor in 2018. She has been the head of the Department of Social Work since 2009. She collaborated on several scientific research projects of the Ministry of Education and Culture, such as “Functioning and Strengthening of Families in Risky Conditions in the Republic of Croatia”, “Models of Action and Evaluation Research in Social Work”, “Social Policy and Social Work in the Republic of Croatia” and “Single-Parent Families in Croatia”. She has presented the results of her research at numerous international and domestic conferences. She has designed and taught various undergraduate courses at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Society of Jesus in Zagreb, graduate courses at the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation in Zagreb, postgraduate courses at the Faculty of Law, University of Osijek. She has participated in setting up the Study of Social Work at the University of Mostar, and has hosted several courses at the Study of Social Work at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Professor Leutar has mentored numerous final and graduate theses, as well as master’s theses and six doctoral dissertations. Professor Zdravka Leutar belongs to the international society of Adorers of the Blood of Christ. For many years, she has been a member of the Government Commission of the Republic of Croatia for People with Disabilities.
