Prof. Zdravka Leutar Ph. D. is a Professor at the Study Centre for Social Work at the University of Zagreb. She was born in Tomislavgrad, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she finished elementary school. Secondary school she finished in Zagreb in 1985. Completed her BA degree in Social Work Studies at the Faculty of Law in Zagreb in 1994, and then took a MSc degree in Sociology at the Institute of Sociology, Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences, Karls Franzens University in Graz, graduating in 1998. In 2000, she defended her PhD in Sociology of the Family at the Karls Franzens University of Graz under the supervision of Prof. Ph. D. Max Haller, on the topic Familiäre Wertorientierungen in Kroatien im vergleich zu Österreich und Polen. Employed at the Law Faculty, University of Zagreb, since 1995. Achieved the scientific teaching position as an assistant professor in 2002, associate professor in 2008, and full professor in 2013. Has been working as a lecturer in the Department of Social Work since 2009, teaching Social Work Studies at undergraduate and graduate levels, and Theory and Methodology of Social Work at post-graduate level; leads the following courses: Social Work with People with Disabilities, Spirituality and Social work, Social Work and Children with Developmental Impairments, Social Work and Human Rights, Selected Topics in Social Work. Prof. Leutar’s areas of scientific interest relate to social work with people with disabilities, spirituality and social action, and social work and human rights. Author of six books, editor of one; wrote over a hundred scientific papers published in academic journals, conference proceedings and as book chapters. Head of a number of scientific research projects, presented their results at many international and national conferences. Designed and given lectures on various courses at undergraduate level at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Society of Jesus in Zagreb, at postgraduate level at the Education and Rehabilitation Sciences in Zagreb, and at postgraduate level at the Faculty of Law, University of Osijek. Participated in forming the Studies of Socaial Work at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she was a lecturer and holder of several courses. Supervised eight doctoral dissertations, five master’s theses, and numerous final and diploma theses. Prof. Zdravka Leutar, PhD, is a member of the International Congregation of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, and was responsible for and led the community in the Croatian-speaking area for five years. For years, a member of the Government Commission of the Republic of Croatia for people with disabilities.
