Siniša Zrinščak is a Professor at the Department of Sociology of the Faculty of Law. He has obtained his diploma, master, and PhD degree in sociology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. His master and PhD theses were in the field of sociology of religion. He has been employed at the Faculty of Law since 1995. He was at the Department of Social Policy at the Social Work Study Centre of the Faculty of Law until 2013, when he changed to the Department of Sociology. He was the head of the Department of Social Policy, the head of the Institute for Social Policy, and the head of the Study Centre for Social Work (2017-2011). He has been the head of the Department of Sociology since 2017.

He has held numerous scientific and professional positions in Croatia and abroad.

In Croatia, he was an editor in chief of two scientific journals: Društvena istraživanja /Social Research/ (1992-1994) and Revija za socijalnu politiku /Journal of Social Policy/ (2002-2009). He was a member of the Publishing Committee of the Croatian Ministry of Science and Education and its president (2015-2021). He was the president of the Governing Board of the Centre for Social Welfare Zagreb (2002-2004), the president of the Governing Board of the Institute for Migration and Nationalities (2005-2007), a member of the Governing Board of the Caritas of Archdiocese Zagreb (2006-2011), the head (2011-2017) and deputy-head (2017-2019) of the Protestant Theological Study of the University of Zagreb.  He was also the president (2005-2007) and vice-president (2007-2009, 2013-2014) of the Croatian Sociological Association. He has been the editor-in-chief of the Publishing Department of the Faculty of Law since 2019. He has been the president of the Scientific Committee on Political Sciences, Sociology, Demography, Social Work and Social Policy, and Security and Defence Sciences of the Croatian Agency for Science and Higher Education since 2021.

He has been actively involved in the work of the International Study of Religion in Eastern and Central Europe Association (ISORECEA) since its foundation in 1995. He was a member of the Council, the vice-president and president (2006-2014) of the ISORECEA. He was the vice-president of the Sociology of Religion Research Committee in the International Sociological Association – ISA RC22 (2006-2014) and the General Secretary of the International Society for the Sociology of Religion – ISSR (2013-2017). From 2019 to 2021, he coordinated the Research Network on Sociology of Religion of the European Sociological Association – ESA RN34. He was a member of the Scientific Committee of the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) from 2018 to 2023.

He has been a member of editorial boards of several Croatian and international scientific journals. The list of international journals includes Social Compass, European Journal of Social Work (Associate Editor since 2015), Religion and Society in Central and Eastern Europe, Journal of Religion in Europe and Annual Review for the Sociology of Religion.

He has been involved in many Croatian and international scientific projects as a member or the project leader. Since 1998, he has been a part of the scientific team which performed three European Value Survey waves in Croatia. Since 2021, he has been an active member of the COST Action CA 20107 – Connecting Theory and Practical Issues of Migration and Religious Diversity (COREnet).

He has authored and co-authored over a hundred scientific and professional papers published in Croatia and abroad.
