Jelena Tadić Cegnar from the International Cooperation and Projects Office at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, participated in the Training and Cooperation Activity (TCA) seminar under the Erasmus+ program, titled “Quality and inclusion in the new Blended Intensive Programmes for Higher Education Institutions,” held in Timișoara, Romania, from October 23 to 26, 2023. The seminar was organized by the Romanian National Agency. TCA seminars are international seminars (Transnational Cooperation Activities) involving participants from across Europe, selected by national EU agencies based on the quality of the project proposal. The seminar was intended for staff from higher education institutions involved in internationalization, with around 50 participants from Romania, Serbia, and Croatia, including 15 participants from Croatia.

The aim of the seminar was to inform participants about planning and organizing BIP programs and help them find inspiration from the achievements and good practices of other higher education institutions.

The seminar also encouraged the creation of new partnerships and cooperation between higher education institutions in the three countries and contributed to networking among colleagues from different departments at the University of Zagreb.

In addition to the official program, participants had the opportunity to enjoy a cultural program and explore the city, which holds the title of European Capital of Culture 2023.

Over the past year, the International Cooperation Office at the Faculty of Law has submitted three successful BIP project applications, two of which have already been realized, and the third is currently under review.

In June and July 2023, seven law students participated in the BIP program “Developing Cyber Resilience Skills” in Poland, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Nina Gumzej from the Department of Information Technology Law. In September 2023, six students from the social work program participated in the BIP program “Supervision as a Tool Against Compassion Fatigue in Social Work” in Ljubljana, Slovenia, alongside Prof. Dr. Kristina Urbanc and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marko Buljevac.

We believe that more students will soon have the opportunity to participate in the BIP program “Genocide and Mass Atrocities under International Law” in Kraków, Poland, in January, which will be coordinated by Prof. Dr. Maja Munivrana.

The greatest advantage of the BIP program is that it allows more students to participate in mobility, especially those who may not be able to engage in longer mobility formats. It also directly encourages “internationalization at home” at their home institution.

As the Call for BIP programs is still open, Jelena Tadić Cegnar invites other interested faculty members to contact the office for more information at imo@pravo.hr
