Socius is a student association operating within the Faculty of Law – Study Centre for Social Work. The association’s members consist of full-time and part-time students of social work and social policy. Socius promotes the values of the social work profession, helps socially excluded and vulnerable groups in society, and acts socially beneficial by encouraging changes in the social and academic community.

Key Projects by Socius:

  1. Sve što možemo (All We Can)– Organizing creative, sports, and reading activities for children in homes for children without adequate parental care.
  2. Preko udruge – Jedni za druge (Through the Association – One for All) A project where monthly monetary and material donations are collected and then distributed, in collaboration with Caritas of the Archdiocese of Zagreb, to individuals from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.
  3. EduSexLex – Educating young people with mild intellectual disabilities and their parents about partnerships and sexuality, raising awareness in the community, and advocating for the rights of these young people to sexual education.

In addition to these projects, Socius continuously runs the following programs:

  • Zeleni socijalni rad (Green Social Work) – Ensuring the well-being of the community and individuals through ecological awareness and sustainable living practices.
  • ReSoc – Recreation and socialization for students of social work and social policy.
  • Alternativni načini učenja (Alternative Ways of Learning)– Direct work with various institutions and clients, excluding the usual ex-cathedra lecture approach.
  • Zamisli (Imagine)– A program encouraging students to show initiative and independently organize events, campaigns, and other activities that are considered important and desirable, with organizational and financial support from Socius.

Many members of Socius have been recognized for their work with academic awards such as the Dean’s and Rector’s awards for socially beneficial work within the academic and wider community.

The association also publishes the Socius journal, a student publication addressing issues related to social work and social policy, now also available in electronic form!
