This week, the Faculty of Law in Zagreb hosted Professor Stanisław Goźdź-Roszkowski, a legal linguistics professor from the University of Łódź in Poland, who also holds our honorary title Friend of the Faculty. The visit was organized by Assistant Professor Snježana Husinec from the Department of Foreign Languages. The guest professor was received for a working meeting by the Vice Dean for International and Interinstitutional Cooperation and Quality Management, Professor Iris Goldner Lang. They discussed extending the cooperation agreement to include the field of legal linguistics as well as organizing a joint combined intensive program as part of the European University of Post-Industrial Cities project (UNIC, https://unic.eu/), which is being increasingly recognized by the European Commission.

Professor Goźdź-Roszkowski gave two lectures in Zagreb, which were well-attended by students. The first lecture, titled “Phraseology in Legal Contexts: Approaches and Applications,” was held at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb on 9 April 2024. The second lecture, titled “The Linguist as Expert Witness,” was held at the Faculty of Law on 11 April 2024.
