The Study Center for Social Work of the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb hosted the international doctoral school “Work-care policies, gender and social inequalities”. The school was organized as part of the COST project Sustainability@Leave (CA 21150), and was held at the Interuniversity Center in Dubrovnik from 17 to 19 April 2024.
As the leader of the working group Sustainable PPL data within the Sustainability@Leave COST action and as a member of the programme and organizational committee Assoc. Prof. Ivana Dobrotić organized a training school where, alongside her, internationally recognized professors from other universities in Europe and Canada participated as trainers, including Rossella Ciccia (University of Oxford, UK), Andrea Doucet (Brock University, CA), Ann-Zofie Duvander (Stockholm University, SE), Wim van Lancker (KU Leuven, BE) and Sonja Blum (Bielefeld University, DE ).
The training school brought together 21 doctoral students and post-doctoral students from leading European universities, among whom was Mirna Varga, a doctoral student at the Social Work and Social Policy doctoral program and an assistant at the Department of Social Policy. Everyone got the opportunity to present their work, as well as feedback and support in further work. The school thus opened a space for constructive feedback in a safe and supportive environment and contributed to the creation of space for the exchange of new ideas, all with the aim of better connecting young (future) scientists.
