From 22 to 26 April 2024, the Study Centre for Social Work hosted students in the 4th semester of their social work studies from the University of Applied Sciences JOANNEUM in Graz, Austria. This study visit was part of the curriculum for the course “Social Work in European Context.” A total of 49 students, accompanied by two instructors, Monika Altenreiter and Monika Meier, participated in social work classes during their stay at the Study Centre for Social Work. Professor Gordana Berc gave an introductory lecture on social work and the education of social workers in Croatia. Throughout the week, the students were involved in the elective course “Social Work from the User’s Perspective,” organized by Professor Kristina Urbanc.

Additionally, the students had the opportunity to meet and socialize with members of the student association Socius. They also participated in workshops and lectures prepared for them by representatives of the Pragma Association, the Red Cross, and the Centre for Children, Youth, and Families in Velika Gorica, in collaboration with Professor Urbanc and Professor Berc.

We would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Pragma, the Red Cross, and the Centre for Children, Youth, and Families in Velika Gorica for their efforts in this collaboration, which we hope will continue with the signing of a joint Erasmus agreement between the University of Applied Sciences JOANNEUM and the Faculty of Law in Zagreb.
