Education and work experience:

Prof. Romana Matanovac Vučković studied law at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb (1992-1998). She completed the post-graduate doctoral study in civil law at the same faculty, defending her doctoral dissertation “Trademark transfer and licensing in the context of the harmonization of Croatian law with European law” (2010). She was a fellow of the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property Law, Competition and Tax Law in 2006 and 2007. She passed the bar exam in 2001. She passed the professional exam for trademark and patent representative in the Republic of Croatia in 2007 and has been a European Patent Attorney since 2008.

She was employed as an assistant at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, Department of Civil Law (2003-2005, 2008-2010). In 2011, she obtained the rank of assistant professor at the Department of Civil Law, where she teaches the courses Civil Law I and II and Copyright Law. At the Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Academy of Music, she teaches courses on Copyright and Legislation in the Audiovisual Industry.

She was a legal adviser at the Croatian Society of Composers for the protection of copyright in music (2001-2003), deputy director of the State Institute for Intellectual Property of the Republic of Croatia (2005-2008), president of the Appeal Council in the field of industrial property rights (2007-2013), president of the Council of Fee Experts in the Field of Copyright and Related Rights (2005-2009). She has been a consultant in numerous legal aid projects in the region (Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro). She participates in several projects on technology transfer at the University of Zagreb.

She has been a member of numerous working groups for drafting laws in the Republic of Croatia in the field of intellectual property rights and audiovisual media. She was a member of the working group in the negotiations for EU accession for Chapter 7: Intellectual property rights and Chapter 26: Education and culture.
