The second in a series of episodic mentorship panels in the legal profession, dedicated to building a career in European institutions, has been held.
Members of our alumni community, with experience from the European Commission, the European Court of Auditors, and other relevant institutions, shared their valuable experiences and insights to help you better prepare your path toward a career in the European environment.
Speakers, lessons, and key messages we heard:
- Lovro Broketa, Policy Analyst, European Commission –
“Be bold and do not underestimate yourself. You may not even like it, but it is certainly worth trying.” - Ida Dojčinović, Legal and Policy Officer, European Commission –
“A law degree is a strong springboard for many careers beyond the traditional paths of legal practice and the judiciary.” - Filip Grle, Economic and Policy Analyst, European Commission –
“Learn to present your qualities with confidence and believe in yourself. Be brave, curious, and persistent!” - Vinka Jelavić, Senior EU Policy Advisor, Financial Conduct Authority, UK –
“Not everyone will know from day one what they want from their career and job—and that is perfectly fine. It is okay to change your mind, to move, to try something different, something new—our experiences are our most important successes!” - Tea Vlainić, Attaché at the European Court of Auditors, Luxembourg –
“Be courageous and broaden your horizons, during your studies and afterwards. If others can do it, so can you!”
Ms Jelena Tadić Cegnar from the Office for International Cooperation and Projects highlighted the opportunities offered by the open Erasmus traineeship call and announced the upcoming opening of the Erasmus call for study mobility.
The panel was moderated by Associate Professor Ružica Šimić Banović, Head of the Department of Economic Sciences.
After the panel, all participants had the opportunity for individual mentoring meetings with our successful alumni, as well as to ask additional questions and receive valuable advice for their further professional development.
