On 22 May 2026, the President of the Republic of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, received students of the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb at the Office of the President. The students attend the seminar component of the Sociology course within the integrated undergraduate and graduate programme in Law, as well as the Human Rights course within the undergraduate programme in Social Work, both taught by Associate Professor Antonija Petričušić.
The visit followed an invitation sent to the President of the Republic of Croatia by students enrolled in the Sociology seminar group, inviting him to discuss the social and political challenges currently attracting the attention of young people.
During the meeting, President Zoran Milanović introduced the students to the constitutional powers and political role of the President of the Republic of Croatia, drawing engaging connections between topics from constitutional, administrative and criminal law and the practical functioning of state institutions and their impact on public life in the Republic of Croatia.
Responding to students’ questions, the President also reflected on current social and geopolitical developments, sharing his views on political processes, contemporary challenges and the functioning of institutions in the modern state.
At the end of the meeting, President Zoran Milanović emphasised the importance of the Faculty of Law of the University of Zagreb, recalling his own student days, and encouraged students to study sociology and history alongside law in order to develop a broader perspective.
