On 3 December 2024, students of the graduate programmes in social policy and social work participated in the conference Parents: Between the Personal and the Social, organized by the association Roda – Parents in Action. The event brought together nearly 350 experts, representatives of civil society, institutions, educational and social care organizations, parents, and youth.
At the conference, students presented posters analyzing various aspects of social policies targeting families and children in Croatia, along with proposals for potential improvements. These posters were developed as part of the course Family Policy, Parenting, and Children. Lucija Picig and Ivana Slunjski presented proposals for improving remote work policies, Ana Krošl and Katarina Ljeljak addressed enhancing access to medically assisted reproduction, Lucija Ivanac focused on improving access to extended day programs, while Petra Romac and Lucijan Mimica presented a proposal for introducing a universal child allowance.
In the opening session of the conference, Prof. Ivana Dobrotić delivered a lecture on the need to improve various aspects of social policies related to parenting, based on findings from the InCare project (Marie Curie) and the rEUsilience project – Risks, Resources and Inequalities: Increasing Resilience in European Families, funded under the Horizon Europe programme.
