As part of an academic mobility programme, Assistant Valentina Kozjak from the Department of Theory and Methods of Social Work visited the Faculty of Social Work in Ljubljana from 22 to 31 January 2025. The primary objective of her visit was to work on her doctoral dissertation proposal, which focuses on the mental health of individuals with mental disorders and/or illnesses.

During her stay, Assistant Kozjak had the opportunity to engage with faculty members in Ljubljana specialising in this field. She also visited supported housing facilities established as part of the deinstitutionalisation process of Dom na Krasu. Through discussions with staff and residents, she gained valuable insights into their experiences of deinstitutionalisation, offering a practical perspective on this process. In addition, she attended lectures for doctoral students, which contributed to her academic development.

Reflecting on her experience, Valentina Kozjak described the visit as an exceptionally valuable opportunity that significantly contributed to both her professional and personal growth. In addition to acquiring knowledge relevant to her doctoral research, she established numerous professional contacts that could serve as the foundation for future collaborations. She emphasised the importance of academic mobility and strongly recommended it to her colleagues at the Faculty of Law.
