Marko Stilinović was born in 1988 in Šibenik. He finished the elementary and high school (Prva gimnazija) in Zagreb. From 2007 to 2012 studied law at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb graduating magna cum laude with the title of Master of Law. During the study, he was awarded the Rector’s Award (2011), was a student-assistant at the Department of criminal law and he studied at the University of Montpellier (Université Montpellier I – Faculté de droit et de science politique) as a part of the student exchange programme,

Work experience:

  • 2013. – 5.2016. Legal Trainee at the Čačić&Partners Law Firm;
  • 2016. – 8.2017. Attorney at Law at the Čačić&Partners Law Firm;
  • 2017. – 4.2018. Senior Legal Counsel in LSSC (Legal Shared Service Center) in TEVA group (PLIVA HRVATSKA d.o.o.);
  • 2018. – 3.2019. Independent Legal Counsel at ERSTE&STEIERMÄRKISCHE BANK d.d.;
  • 2019. – Research Assistant at the Department of civil law at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb

He passed the bar exam with a special commendation (2015). As of 2019, he is enrolled in a Postgraduate doctoral study programme in Civil Law and Family Law Sciences. By the Faculty Council decision as of academic year 2020/2021, he was granted with the venia docendi and examinandi. He attended the summer programme The Main Features of the European Legal Systems at the University of Salzburg (2019) and the PEPP programme (Programme in European Private Law for Postgraduates) at the universities of Münster, Katowice, Cambridge and Valencia (2021 and 2022).

He has conducted research at the Max-Planck-Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg (2022).

He was awarded the scholarship by the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft for the research entitled “Succession Law Aspects of the Digital Assets” following which he conducted a research stay at the Max-Planck-Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg (March-June 2023).

He is a member of the Rowing Association of the Faculty of Law Octopus, which he led in his student days. He actively practices running and diving.
