The course Maritime and Transport Law studies the field of transport law. The purpose of the course is to provide basic knowledge on land, air, maritime and internal waters navigation law, on an international, EU and domestic level, as well as on the transport services market organization and infrastructure management in the whole transport industry. The course examines the terminology, classification and historical development of maritime law. It further examines the sources of maritime law. The issues concerning maritime demesne and maritime ports are elaborated. The course analyzes the maritime navigation safety and security legal framework. The real property issues are examined. The course explains the role of individual actors in maritime entrepreneurship. The relevant maritime law contracts are thoroughly analyzed, with a special focus on charter parties and carriage of passengers and carriage of goods contracts. The role of non-contractual (tort) liability in maritime domain is carefully examined. The fields of rail, road and air law are separately analyzed, with a special focus on carriage of passengers, carriage of goods, liability for damage compensation, transport regulation and related issues. Finally, the course analyzes law of internal navigation.
