Students of the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, have launched an independent project entitled “The EU and Me”, conceived as a series of student-led presentations on the European Union for secondary school students across Croatia. The project brings together the following students: Ivan Kremljak, Hrvoje Matić, Dominik Milković, Lovre Opačak, Niko Stipić, Mihael Šoić, and Tin Šoštarić.

The project is based on the idea of promoting knowledge about the European Union among secondary school students while simultaneously presenting the faculty to prospective students. Each participant delivers the same presentation, which was jointly developed by the project team, at their former secondary school. An exception is the presentation at Vladimir Nazor Grammar School in Zadar, where a special lecture on EU funds will be held with the participation of the Mayor of Zadar and former Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds, Šime Erlić. The presentation will be delivered by Lovre Opačak, Dominik Milković, and Tin Šoštarić.

So far, presentations have been successfully delivered at several schools:

  • Second Grammar School Zagreb, where the presentation given by Hrvoje Matić and Niko Stipić was attended by approximately 120 students, together with an additional 25 students from Second Grammar School Maribor;
  • Upper Town Grammar School in Zagreb, where around 65 students attended the presentation;
  • Bjelovar Grammar School, with approximately 60 students in attendance;
  • Antun Gustav Matoš Grammar School, also attended by around 60 students.

Further presentations are planned at Vladimir Nazor Grammar School in Zadar and Vladimir Prelog Science School in Zagreb, where a combined audience of approximately 150 students is expected.

An important component of each presentation is an interactive Kahoot! quiz. The students also plan to conduct research on the impact of the presentations and to organise a concluding event at which they will share their experiences and pass on their knowledge to future generations of Faculty students.
