Dear first-year students of the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb,

On behalf of the Faculty Management, the entire teaching staff, all employees of the Faculty and myself, I congratulate you on your admission to our Faculty in the academic year 2024/25 and wish you a warm welcome!

We are proud of the fact that, this year, a large number of students have enrolled in the first year of all our studies. This also obliges us to provide you with the quality of studies as if you were studying anywhere else in Europe and worldwide.

By enrolling in the Faculty of Law of the University of Zagreb, you have joined a community of students of law, social work, social policy, public administration and public finance, as well as a community of professors and other teachers, researchers and employees who will support you during your studies, especially during the first year of study and help you meet the challenges of student life and student obligations.

I believe that during the first year of study at the Faculty of Law, by attending interesting lectures and acquiring new knowledge through other teaching activities, you will deepen your initial interest in the study you enrolled in and, with this additional motivation, devote yourself to pursuing your studies to the final year, where you will obtain the desired diploma.

Studying at our Faculty does not only mean regular participation in classes, but also involvement in domestic and international research projects, conferences, lectures and events run and organized by our professors, involvement in student associations, the Student Union, clinical teaching in the field of your future profession, humanitarian campaigns, sports activities, volunteering and participation in other interesting content that will enrich your student life with additional knowledge and skills.

As our students, you can participate in studying, mobility and all the activities of the European University of Cities in Post-Industrial Transition (UNIC), of which our entire University is a member, along with nine other important universities in Europe, as well as the already well-established possibility of studying at other universities in Europe within the Erasmus+ program. The Faculty of Law is one of the leading components of our University in terms of the number of incoming and outgoing students, so I believe that during your studies, some of you will take part in international mobility and receive an Erasmus+ scholarship.

In the academic year 2024/25, classes will take place in faculty buildings, but also in other locations, since some of our premises are being renovated to repair the damage caused by two devastating earthquakes in 2020. I appeal to your understanding, cooperation and respect for the efforts that we all will make together in order to provide excellent teaching and study results in these challenging conditions.

We will regularly inform you about all organizational details. For any questions, doubts and advice regarding studies, you can contact the Student Service, the Student Counseling Centre, the Reading and Lending Library, teachers as academic mentors, vice deans and heads of study centres, as well as me as the dean. The faculty is here for you with all its capacities. I especially invite you to keep up to date with the notices that will arrive in your student inbox, and those posted on our website.

I wish you all a happy and successful first year of study!

Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb
