The Faculty of Law of the University of Zagreb had the pleasure of hosting Mrs. Nicola Murphy, the representative of the Office for International Cooperation of the Faculty of Law of the University of Galway, who holds the position of a lecturer and Erasmus director.
The working meeting, held on September 4th, 2024, was attended by director Murphy, the vice dean for international and inter-institutional cooperation and quality management professor Iris Goldner Lang, PhD and Martina Batistić, political scientist from the Office for International Cooperation.
The topics such as the similarities and differences of the Croatian and Irish higher education systems, the traditions of the two law faculties and the opportunities they offer to their visiting students were discussed during the meeting. Experiences in connection with the administrative procedures laid down in national legislative frameworks of Croatia and Ireland were exchanged too, especially the ones related to the registration and residence of foreign students at the universities.
The main goal of the visit of Mrs. Murphy was negotiating and harmonizing all terms of the future EWP agreement on the exchange of students and teaching staff between the Faculty of Law of the University of Galway and the Faculty of Law of the University of Zagreb, which was achieved to mutual satisfaction. Additionally, a perspective is open for academic mobility and mobility of non-teaching staff, which will be carried out based on local tenders outside the Erasmus+ programme. This type of mobility will further contribute to a friendly cooperation and partnership of the two faculties.
