On 10 June 2026, the Faculty of Law of the University of Zagreb had the honour of hosting a delegation of judges from the High People’s Court of Beijing, People’s Republic of China. The visit was organised within the framework of international cooperation and the exchange of experiences between Croatian and Chinese judicial and educational institutions.

The Chinese delegation consisted of three judges from the High People’s Court of Beijing and one judge representing a Municipal People’s Court. On behalf of the Faculty of Law, the guests were welcomed by Professor Elizabeta Ivičević Karas, PhD, Vice-Dean for Science, Innovation, Knowledge Transfer and Lifelong Learning, and Martina Batistić, University Specialist, from the Office for International Cooperation and Projects.

During the meeting, Vice-Dean Ivičević Karas presented the Faculty of Law of the University of Zagreb as one of the oldest and most distinguished higher education institutions in the Republic of Croatia. Particular emphasis was placed on the diversity of the study programmes offered by the Faculty, including postgraduate specialist and doctoral programmes. The discussion focused on legal education and the professional development of lawyers, with particular attention given to preparation for careers within the judiciary. Special consideration was also given to the continuing professional training of judicial office holders.

The meeting took place in an atmosphere of open and constructive dialogue and reaffirmed the mutual interest in further strengthening friendly cooperation and exchanging experiences in the fields of legal education and the judiciary.
