Between 25-29 May, 2026, the physical component of the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence” was held at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb. The programme attracted a number of local lecturers and students, as well as experts and students from three partner universities: University of Łódź, Ruhr University Bochum and Malmö University. The programme was hosted and coordinated by Prof. Zoran Burić, PhD.

During the week, participants engaged in lectures, discussions, and analyses of key issues related to violence against women and domestic violence. Particular attention was given to the terminology associated with these phenomena and to international, European, and national approaches to their prevention and legal regulation. On the final day of the programme, participants had the opportunity to display the knowledge they acquired through practical exercises focused on communication with victims of the abovementioned violence, as well as legal processing of such cases.

In addition to education, to encourage participants to socialise and to get a taste of Zagreb’s cultural and gastronomic offer, a number of extracurricular activities, such as a tour around the city, a visit to the Broken Relationships Museum, as well as welcome and farewell receptions, were organised for them. Additionally, all foreign participants received small tokens of appreciation in the form of traditional Croatian products.

The programme generated considerable interest and enthusiasm, with students actively participating in all of its activities. Their engagement during the physical component will support the successful completion of the programme’s digital component, which will continue throughout June.
