The international student conference “The Current State and Future Challenges of Legal Theory and Philosophy, 2026” was held on 8 May 2026 in Zagreb (at the premises of the Association of University Teachers and Other Scholars), organised by the Croatian Association for Legal and Social Philosophy and the Theory of Law and the State (HUPSF), with the support of the Faculty of Law in Zagreb. The aim of the conference was to bring together young researchers in the fields of legal theory and philosophy, as well as related disciplines, to provide students at all levels with an opportunity to present their research and ideas, and to encourage international interaction and cooperation.

Following the introductory address and the opening of the conference, presentations were delivered by 13 speakers, students at undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels, from universities in the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Serbia, Spain, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.

The three conference panels addressed topics including legal theory, the methodology and structure of legal systems, logic and norms, legal balancing, private law, the rule of law, and the impact of new technologies and cyber coercion on contemporary law and legal positivism.

The members of the organising committee were Svan Relac (Faculty of Law in Zagreb), Marianela Delgado Nieves (Faculty of Law in Zagreb), Tomislav Nedić (Faculty of Law in Osijek), and Marin Keršić (Faculty of Law in Split).
