Andrej Božinovski, the Croatian Science Foundation Project assistant at the Department of Criminal Law, stayed as a visiting researcher at the Universitat de Barcelona from February 21 to 25, 2025. The mobility was financed by the Faculty of Law in Zagreb for the purpose of carrying out a case study on the Barcelona Innocence Project under the mentorship of the Project Manager Assoc. Prof. Nurie Mallandrich Miret.
Assistant Božinovski researched the methodology and way of working on cases for the purposes of his doctoral thesis entitled “Protection of the Rights of Wrongfully Convicted Persons in Croatia and the Region through Establishing Innocence Projects”. According to him, the importance of international mobility in the academic development of young researchers is enormous. He found the experience to be extremely valuable, and in addition to the gained knowledge and insights that will be helpful in the preparation of his doctoral thesis, he also made numerous contacts that could be the basis for future successful academic collaborations.
