On Friday, June 28, 2024 our faculty was visited by six judges, representatives of the Higher People’s Court of the Chinese province of Hubei: Liu Yong, Liu Gang, Li Wenfeng, JiaYasheng, Chen Jing and Yang Shangwen. They were hosted by Prof. Ph.D. Iris Goldner Lang, vice dean for international and inter-institutional cooperation and quality management; Prof. Ph.D. Elizabeta Ivičević Karas, vice dean for science, innovation and lifelong education; and Martina Batistić from the Office for International Cooperation.

Topics from the field of criminal and criminal procedural law were discussed at the informal meeting, as well as the similarities and differences between the Chinese and Croatian criminal law and educational systems. The guests were particularly interested in the Croatian system for the advancement of young lawyers, specifically the possibilities of scientific and professional training after completing law studies. They were also interested in the forms of cooperation between Croatian courts and the Faculty of Law, especially regarding the participation of Croatian judges and lawyers in conducting practical classes at the Faculty, as well as the possible involvement of legal experts as consultants at the courts.

The high-quality cooperation we achieve through partnership agreements with Chinese universities, such as the East China University of Political Sciences and Law, Beijing University of Transnational Law, Yangzhou Faculty of Law, and others, was also emphasized.
