The Faculty of Law of the University of Zagreb, in cooperation with the Faculty of Law and Public Administration of the University of Łódź, Poland participated as a partner in the BIP programme titled Forced Displacements and Integration of Migrants.
The programme was held from June 17 to 21, 2024 at the Faculty of Law of the University of Deusto, Bilbao, Spain, which is the coordinator of the programme, and the three faculties are in the network of the European University of Cities in Post-Industrial Transition (UNIC).
As part of the Programme, a summer school called Migration and International Protection in a Global Context was organised. Our teachers, Prof. Ph.D. Goranka Lalić Novak and associate professor Ph.D. Teo Giljević actively participated in the summer school; they held presentations and took part in workshops on border protection and human rights of migrants.
Our students participated in the programme too: Iva Rašić, Petar Gašparić, Ema Vučetić, Elodi Tijan, Rea Štoković, Lana Pavešić, Lara Čačić, Monika Brkljača and Dominik Filipović.
Students were introduced to various aspects of forced migration and the integration of refugees into society, including migration and international protection in a global context, border control and surveillance policies, forced migration and the common European asylum system, integration into society and the rights of migrants, autonomy and subjectivity of individual migrants.
