Juvenile delinquency in contemporary society. The concept of a juvenile in penal law. Responsibility of a juvenile.
Sanctions for juveniles and criteria for the selection of sanctions. Individual categories of reformatory measures. Sentence of juvenile detention home.
Special features of the penal actions against juveniles. Penal action bodies. Decision based on report. Preparatory procedure. Committee session or evidentiary hearing. The Youth Council decisions. Legal remedies.
Younger persons of age. Penal stipulations. Criminal procedural stipulations.
Criminal offences against minors. Criminal offences against marriage, family and youth. Criminal offences against sexual liberty and sexual morality. Other criminal offences against minors (international prostitution, human trade and slavery, infanticide and so on).

Cognitive Skills:

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
After successfully mastering the course students will be able to:
- Explain the concept of juvenile criminal law and its relationship to other branches of law and jurisprudence;
- Critically evaluate and recognize the importance of respecting the fundamental principles of juvenile criminal legislation and case law (principle of oportunity, etc.);
- Understand and explain the phenomenon of juvenile delinquency and the fundamental institutions of juvenile criminal law (juvenile courts, reformatory measures, juvenile prison, etc.);
- To define the peculiarities of juvenile sanctions;
- Bundle structure of juvenile criminal legislation (general substantive provisions, juvenile sanctions procedure under the Law on Juvenile Courts) and summarize the characteristics of juvenile delinquency (property crimes, offenses related to drug abuse, etc.);
- Set aside the basic features of the system of legal protection of minors.

APPLICATION
After successfully mastering the course students will be able to:
- Interpret the terms of the general part of juvenile criminal law in accordance with the relevant methods of interpretation of criminal law norms;
- Demonstrate mutual conditionality and coherence of the Criminal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure and the Law on Juvenile Courts;
- Apply the knowledge gained from juvenile criminal law in practice;
- Interpret the regulations in the field of juvenile criminal law in their daily work.

ANALYSIS
After successfully mastering the course students will be able to:
- Check the level and extent of adherence to the principle of the rule of law in the area of juvenile criminal law and practice;
- Compare the Croatian juvenile criminal justice system with relevant provisions for minors in other countries and to examine its compliance with European Union law;
- Set aside dysfunctional norms of juvenile criminal law and examine the causes and consequences of the creation of such standards;
- Examine and categorize the different theoretical models of juvenile criminal law and their application in the case law;
- Analyze the existing case law and statistics in the field of juvenile criminal law;

SYNTHESIS
After successfully mastering the course students will be able to:
- Propose the necessary amendments to juvenile criminal legislation and guidelines for case law;
- Prepare the surface for expert analysis of individual institutes of juvenile criminal law;
- Formulate basic features, advantages and disadvantages of the legal and judicial policy of punishing juveniles and propose solutions for improving these systems;
- Build a methodological system to produce term papers in the areas of juvenile criminal law;
- Devise a protocol for writing term papers, to formulate appropriate hypotheses and draw up a concept with the model work of literature;

EVALUATION
After successfully mastering the course students will be able to:
- Evaluate the quality, sustainability and feasibility of legal and theoretical institutes of juvenile criminal law in practical terms;
- Choose further study of individual segments of juvenile criminal law and assess which is the most appropriate area for further sub-specialization;
- Evaluate the national juvenile criminal legislation in terms of constitutional and international law.

Practical and Generic Skills:

After successfully mastering the course students will be able to:
- To publicly present the learning outcomes;
- Express the respective level of argumentation own thesis;
- Improve communication skills;
- Participate in teamwork.

Matching Assessments to Learning Outcomes:

1. Written and oral examination to verify the outcomes of learning - knowledge and understanding
2. Problem sheets to verify the learning outcomes - application
3. Debate seminars, organization of mock trials, accredited courses and participate in exercises to check the learning outcomes - Analysis
4. Preparation of written student work (essays, term papers) to verify the learning outcomes - synthesis and evaluation
5. Grades will be given during class with the appropriate learning outcome and finally the written and oral examination in the course. In the latter will be grades obtained during the semester taken account in the formulation of the final grade. The criteria for evaluation are all learning outcomes - demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the subject matter of juvenile criminal law, the ability to apply regulations on hypothetical and real cases from the judicial practice, the ability of analysis and synthesis and evaluation of appropriate content adopted during class.
