2010 Cambridge Journals Package for CARNet

 

Cambridge University Press is the publishing division of the University of Cambridge, one of the world’s most successful research institutions, and our mission is to advance learning, knowledge and research worldwide. We publish over 240 academic journals in Science, Technology, Medicine, and the Humanities and Social Sciences. Many of these titles are the leading journals in their fields and together they form one of the most valuable and comprehensive collections of research available today.

 

As a not-for-profit publisher, we are devoted to the dissemination of knowledge. Our journals offer very good value for money, as recognised by Loughborough University’s LISU Trends in Journal Prices: an analysis of selected journals 2000-2006, which is a survey of eleven leading journal publishers, published in 2008. This found Cambridge titles to have the lowest median prices per impact factor for the majority of the period surveyed, as well as the lowest monetary price increases year on year.

 

Cambridge Journals again hit a high level of success in the Thomson Reuters Journals Citation Reports (JCR). Behavioural and Brain Sciences, International Organization, Microscopy and Microanalysis and Development and Psychopathology are all ranked as number one in their categories. Behavioural and Brain Sciences came third of all 1,985 journals indexed in the Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) with an Impact Factor of 12.818 and topped the list for 5-year Impact Factor with 19.355.

Over a quarter of our journals appear in the top quartile of their category lists when ranked by Impact Factor. In the latest JCR rankings Cambridge Journals achieved an average increase in Impact Factor of 19.7% against an average of 11.7% for journals within their subject categories. Cambridge’s Humanities and Social Science journals averaged an increase of 24.1% and our Science, Technology and Medicine journals increased by 16.6%.Cambridge Journals encompass a range of multidisciplinary titles, with five journals appearing in both the SCI and SSCI Index. Almost 60% of our titles are indexed by Thomson Reuters - 101 Journals are indexed in the SCI and SSCI lists. A further 37 titles are indexed in the Arts & Humanities Index.

 

 

In the past we have had country-wide pricing negotiated by CARNet. Sadly this was not renewed in 2009, but we hope to resume this arrangement in 2010. If this bid is not successful I have arranged special pricing for individual organisations:
